The entire concept of telephone numbers and SMS texts are obsolete.

You can send voice and text over the internet. You can have unique identifiers to contact such as email addresses, accounts, or cryptographic keys.

Paying for telephone and SMS service is absurd. You are paying to use insecure communication that is easily surveilled and serves no actual real benefit to you.

Well, it's 2022 and you can't even use a bank account without a mobile telephone. Various websites, software, and services require SMS verification.

Why? Mostly because the paywall of acquiring new telephone numbers is a deterrent to making multiple accounts.

I will admit it is partially effective. But this has led to a world where you are practically required to pay for a phone number to use on a small locked down computer running spyware only because other services require it as some form of fucked up human-verification it was never meant for, and not because of any actual usefulness of the outdated/insecure telephony protocols and their entire industry.

Where do phone numbers come from?
There is an app I use, TextNow. It gives you a free phone number (you have to use it once in a while so it doesn't go away) but in order to get the number you need to sign up with a real telephone number. It kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me.
Even for Whatsapp you need a telephone number in order to sign up. That one just makes no sense to me. I wonder if there is a reason beyond fear of people making multiple accounts.

I've been playing the original NES Final Fantasy II
It's kinda primitive, if you get poisoned it doesn't go away even if you go to the inn, or die and get rez'd (which btw you have to go to a town and talk to a statue)
I would not play this shit unless you're fast forwarding through the battles and using save states

Go to the item shop and buy an antidote or use a white magic spell

It can fall off by itself, but sometimes it just stays for a really long time or possibly forever, idk why maybe it's based on enemy level or something.

The game is kind of charming in a way, it doesn't tell you anything, you don't know what the spells or items do until trying, there's no item descriptions, the only reason you know a weapon is better is because it costs more at the shop.

/jp/ reminds me of someone I met about 8 years ago.

My parents brought me with them to visit Thailand when I was 16 years old because my mother was born there and she wanted me to meet my grandparents.

I met a monk while I was there and he became my friend. Every few days I would go to visit him and he always did the same thing. He liked rocks a lot, so he would gather rocks from the stream and look at them, occasionally laughing and smiling with a big grin when he would find a rock that he liked a lot. He would show me rocks that he found and he was always so happy. He didn't speak English so we never talked and we only ever looked at rocks, but it was some of the best times of my life. When I would spend the day with that monk it felt like time stopped, my heart felt light and happy, and my mind was completely calm. It was like his whole life was unaffected by the passage of time and spending time with him made you feel the same way.

I feel like that when I'm on /jp/. People here are living a life that is different from other people in the world. You're not burdened by things like needing to know what day it is or even what year it is. Time doesn't seem to matter here, every day naturally flows together and everything is peaceful.
