Of course being chronically sad and tired exists.
But there's absolutely nothing scientific about psychiatry or more specifically depression diagnosis.
There is no such thing as a physical test for depression. The diagnostic process is done entirely based on subjective observation and emotion.
The drugs such as SSRIs are not proven to fix anything. There is no way to get a test for a chemical imbalance of the brain, let alone claiming that these drugs are supposed to fix one.
SSRIs are physically addictive and some people who withdrawn from opiates including heroin would prefer to withdrawal from them instead.
