I just delivered food to a coworkers apartment from over 6 years ago. What a small world. He recognized my face pretty quickly…

He had kids now, though. He brought up “are you still watching those animes” and that he was watching solo leveling. Wild he was living that close to me, I thought he moved to another state.

Yeah I did have a ton of downtime in the mornings back when I worked in an office largely because of time zones. In the mornings from 7AM to 9PM I had no calls and I was the first nakama in the building even before the managers. Looking back they really did take advantage of me but it all balanced out.

On Fridays I had virtually no work between 5pm to 8pm. I was even given my own office despite not being a manager, so I could bring my ipad and extra gear (not like the HR lady gave me flack for it for some odd reason). That was the only perks of being an office stooge. That and the vending machines. I hated everything else.

Oh and it wasn't forced inbound/outbound calls like a lot of the other trashy jobs I had. I had to call off a list manually and as long as I got a few schedules in the bosse(s) left me alone. So basically everything was closed in the west up until 9AM EST.

okay blog over

[Setting: Kenny’s small, dimly lit room. A modular rig hums quietly in the background. Monroe, Buny’s stuffed seal, sits on the bed. It’s late at night.]

Kenny:
You want me to patch Monroe into the Interstellar Radio? We can modulate your soul tonight.

Buny:
Nooo, he’ll go deaf again. Remember last time? He said he heard the witch laughing for a week.

Kenny:
That was you laughing, though. When I messed up the envelope curve and fried my headphones.

Buny:
He doesn’t know that. Let him believe it was the ghost in the A-145.

Kenny: (grinning)
Alright. No ghosts tonight. Just some gentle static. Like rain on a tin roof in an abandoned Soviet missile silo.

Buny:
That’s your idea of gentle? Mine’s more like… the AC unit humming while I scroll and ignore everyone.

Kenny:
Same feeling. I just patch it instead of scrolling.
(pauses)
I found a patch that sounds like when you used to hum while microwaving taquitos.

Buny:
You made a noise patch of me microwaving taquitos?

Kenny:
I missed it. You hum this weird little rising fourth when you're hungry. I built it from two VCOs and a filter sweep.

Buny:
Okay but did you name it "Buny Hungry Mode"?

Kenny:
No. I called it “Monroe’s Pre-Dinner Prayer.”

Buny: (snorts)
You’re such a dork.

Kenny:
Yeah, but you’re here. So what does that make you?

Buny:
In danger.

Kenny:
Fair.
