Reading the 1600s document "The Natural History of Oxford-shire".
Here's an excerpt where he tries to figure out how echoes work, and tests various different sounds, words, locations, and even shoots a gun.
He wonders why some words return more syllables back in echoes than others.
He believes that echoes are different between night and day, and different seasons, perhaps because the air is just too "thick", retarding the echo.
He tells you the exact park and walls he shouted at.
His lord says the letter S doesn't echo so good, it's an inferior and hissing sound. They shout "Satan" to test.
