Humans have been around for a long time and a lot of people must have roped by now. You would think that all of the ropers would have roped and not passed on their roping genes early on but instead it seems like more people are roping than ever before.

Genetics is obviously irrelevant to suicide risk compared to environmental factors.

I'm not saying it has no effect, just that comparatively, it's irrelevant. Suicide is almost entirely an environment problem.

When an individual has become a burden on their kin that carry the suicide gene, they self-terminate and thus increase the survival rate of their kin as a result of them not needing to expend resources on a lost cause.
