I recently installed a compass application from fdroid. Every time I open it thinks north is 45 degrees to the right from its previous position it gave me last time I launched the app. Long story short get an iphone. Not necessarily brand new, one from 2 or 3 years ago will do the job just as fine. Apple phones have somewhat less telemetry compared to the botnetdroid.

A smartphone is as norm as it gets there is no point in trying to rice it besides if you lead a "normal" life there are some apps like banking, maps, insurance that you will actually need.
