After WW2 the entire world split along 2 axis
- USA-led "capitalism"
- Russia-led "communism"
There was no third choice or neutrality.
If your country wanted to not be a capitalist slave colony, and democratically chose that, the USA would either directly invade your country (e.g. Vietnam and Korea), fund/arm rebels inside your country (e.g. Nicaraguan contras), sanction your country, or install puppet leaders in it.
Japan, having lost to USA, became aligned with the USA and so-called "capitalism".
The capitalist system primarily revolves around people who do literally nothing just "owning things", and stealing money from workers actually doing something productive.
Everything about this system is setup to transfer wealth from workers who do productive things, to unproductive people who do literally nothing, like creditors, shareholders, and landlords.
On a global geopolitical scale, this is analogous to western countries outsourcing factories/labor to countries with currencies they keep artificially low, so they can pay them $2 USD a day, and claim they saved them from "extreme poverty" because a slave getting $2 USD in a factory is richer than someone with $0 but a large herd of cattle, family, freedom, and self-sufficiency, these people are in "extreme poverty".
