you basically only need loans/scholarships to afford a place to live
fafsa/school grants/pell grant easily cover tuition
I got like 25-30k a year to cover 13-16k in tuition when I was in school.

I just re-checked, it was 500 at community college (2 years), 4k/semester at csu (1 year) and then 8k at UC (2 years). UCs are bloated as fuck and expensive, even by public standards but the government was paying for it anyways so not my problem.
