The 70s was when the wealth inequality divide between the proletariat and the capitalist ownership class really took off in the USA.

I've told you before, but in terms of gold purchasing power, minimum wage was $95 an hour in 1971.

Ever see those "wow look the world got out of extreme poverty" charts?

Literally it's based on how much USD they make, currently considered to be about $2 USD a day

They took their land, they took their cattle, they took their culture and self-sustaining way of life, replaced it with a slave job in a factory paying $3 USD a day, and said "look you're not poor anymore because you make US dollars".
