I think the problem isn't the lack of work, it's that they take away all sources of stimulation. You have to sit there and stare at a wall for hours on end. No slacking off on your phone. Just sitting there doing nothing. It's a form of mental torture. They want to mentally break you down until you quit. They make it sound much nicer than it is.

why don't they just meditate, aren't japs into that buddhism thing? Sounds like a good excuse to achieve enlightenment while getting paid for it.

I would still come in to work just spite them. I would bring manga books to read to pass the time.
