A lot of people complain about the current state of /jp/, but having checked in occasionally since around the time it was made, I can honestly say that at no point was it ever "good". At best, you could say it was "mostly shitty". Its users have always been some of the most obnoxious, in-your-face, and "unable to smell the stench of their own shit" crossboarders ever, surpassed only by /b/ (historically), /v/, /pol/, and /sp/
