The combat is no worse than 2000s Oblivion games, or even Skyrim really. The stat and difficulty balancing is very good even by modern standards, you feel a real sense of progression of getting stronger, as enemies that were once too hard start dying in fewer hits.
You need to play with a fast-forward toggle button though to turn around, turning is unbelievably slow.
