I know that feel (although your Linux distro should still support PHP7, Arch started officially maintaining PHP7)… Sorry Nenmin.
Stay strong oatamealmin, I think the spammers are getting weaker and will stop one day.

>>568082>what is PHPProgramming language with a focus on websites. Tinyboard/Vichan is primarily written in PHP.
New PHP updates tend to break old PHP code (i.e. Tinyboard/Vichan) because idk the PHP developers are trolls.
When you make a post for example, it executes PHP code that puts that data into a MySQL database, and regenerates a new HTML page.
You install PHP on Linux and start the service. The web server (e.g. Nginx, Apache) is configured to be aware of this and able to run PHP code.
>can you not stick to the current version and never updateThis gets increasingly hard as time goes on.
If you simply just use an old PHP package from your Linux distro, eventually when you upgrade your Linux distro that package will break due to the dynamically linked libraries it expects to have on your system either not existing anymore, or being incompatible for any number of reasons.
You can compile PHP yourself I guess, I'm sure PHP 7 still compiles on modern build systems, but eventually in the future it might stop compiling.
You could just never upgrade your Linux distro, or use an old distro in a VM. Arch Linux also officially maintains old PHP packages now.
But maybe Nenmin is on some cucked hosting service where he doesn't even control the OS and they told him "we will be upgrading you to PHP 8 deal with it"

At least he provided an archive, which is also what a certain someone promised to do but never followed up on it.
>>568075Would anyone even particularly care if ota were to go down tomorrow?

>>568093But why? Ota has become extremely shitty and dead. It might as well not even be the same site anymore so in spirit it has already died ages ago. I mean what's more damning than the admin of a site that literally got spun off ota telling people to go to some 3rd site despite the fact that ota is still up.
>>568095It used to be like that for me too, but that hasn't been the case for a long time now…
