it's not unlikely if you have a great grandma from another state or something. College educated first worlders tend to move wherever they can find work and that leads to big divides in family.

I once had a Christmas where my mom made us all talk to our great grandma on the phone after she called, she remembered my brother and older cousin but had no idea who me and my younger cousin were… I met her twice in my life and once in the age range I could remember.
