hired a ps2 for my 12th birthday
some things were so much more expensive back then
it didn't come with a memory card so we always had to start from the beginning in the game we were playing when we died

A likely story. Doesn’t look like anyone else has any links either. All the ps2 lots I see in ebay’s sold listings are for a few hundred bucks at the absolute most, nothing even close to 5k.

Agreed but you definitely can see smaller lots of 10 specific games going for hundreds. If their collection has a lot of these rare titles then the value could end up in at least the 2k range, not 5k though.

I wish I kept better care of my gamecube games. I opened my Twilight Princess case one day to find that the disc was loose and had a ton of really deep scratches on it. I tried to get it repaired at some pawn shop that had a special machine, but it was too badly damaged. At least I can find solace in the fact that emulating is incredibly easy.

I'm curious how much one would cost too. I've been staying at my grandparents house this week and brought some blurays and a copy of Demon's Souls™ to use with their original model PS3 when I have time. It seems to get vaguely hot after a while and smells faintly like melting plastic if I get up close to it.

I have an OG fat PS3 in great condition slightly above 3.55 FW that's been sitting in a drawer forever.

There's no use for it.

Any PS3 exclusives I ever wanted to play work even better in RPCS3. (Demons Souls, Project Diva F, Drakengard 3, Nier)

That's all the games PS3 even has, and Nier has a remaster on Steam now anyway.

It sounds weird but people consider older gaming systems more convenient in a way.

Don't forget Ar Tonelico Qoga. But yeah, I know a lot of PS3 games have been ported to other platforms and there are better ways to play them. I just don't feel like buying or downloading those games again since I already have them on PS3.

I played through DeS on RPCS3 last year and had horrible audio problems in some areas. Certain background sounds (the gears turning in the Stonefang Tunnel for instance) would loop on top of themselves and make an earshattering racket. I couldn't find a way to fix it and apparently it may have something to do with my hardware.
