I've only used Linux since 2012.
>>6293>anyways because video gamesYou can play over 80% of Windows games on Linux now. Probably almost every game you've played works on Linux. Check here.
https://www.protondb.com/Even new and demanding games work. Ace Combat 7 just came out, works perfectly. Dark Souls 1/2/3, MHW, Dragon Quest XI, Nier Automata, Overwatch, Paladins, DragonBall Fighter Z, A Hat in Time, Tekken 7, Soul Calibur 6, etc. All work on Linux.
Some games do still need manual workarounds for Windows Media Player and now Media Foundation, to play certain games that use these for video files.
Like the new Resident Evil 2 remake works, but it needs a workaround for Media Foundation.
There is a CodeWeavers (Wine) developer working on a Media Foundation implementation right now though.
DX11 support has gotten really good, thanks to a project called DXVK which translates DX10 and DX11 to Vulkan, and can be used in Wine. This gives very good performance, some people even want to use DXVK on Windows.
